Milking your cow

PROMULGATION:
As believers we celebrate our entry into God’s Kingdom when we become citizens of Heaven,  when we welcome Christ into our hearts.  It’s a celebration, and it marks the Point in our lives when we make widely known the fact that we’re now following a new set of rules, a new constitution – Kingdom Rules.
When we were told there was a public holiday to celebrate the new constitution in Kenya, I heard a new word…. PROMULGATION. So I looked it up.
Promulgatepromote or make widely known (an idea or cause) : these objectives have to be promulgated within the organization. put (a law or decree) into effect by official proclamation : in August 2010, the new constitution was promulgated.
ORIGIN mid 16th cent.: from Latin promulgat- ‘exposed to public view,’ from the verb promulgare, from pro- ‘out, publicly’ + mulgere ‘cause to come forth’ (literally ‘to milk’ ).

Celebrating our entry into the Kingdom of God is one thing: It’s a happy day, yes, but how many realize that the hard work has just began? When I think of milking, my mind turns to cows - look at Dairy Farming. Those farmers are up at all hours of the night – and day.. and even if you don’t think of large-scale farmers, what of your neighbour (if like me, you live in ushaago where every other family has a minimum of 6 cows?). FYI, cows are milked twice or thrice a day, the first milking is at about 4am.. then there’s the feeding of cows, whether it’s Zero-Grazing for your cows or sending them out to green pastures. Then don’t forget the Vets who must check the health of your cows, plus the physical milking, the workers who need to get paid, storing the milk, selling your milk… etc, etc…
Ok, so I am weird like that, but it got me thinking…
Do we ‘milk’ our Bibles? Do we wake up at the crack of dawn, to read the Word? Do you look for green pastures or a Bible Study Group or Church or Fellowship where you can feed your faith, do you have a vet or a Mentor who regularly checks your Spiritual health? Are you publicly ‘milking’ your cow – by practicing your faith? Is it clear to those close to you the benefits of a nurturing spiritual relationship with Christ? Are we promoting or making widely known the Word of God?
